Laboratory and Assessment

Integral Health Clinic is pleased to offer a wide variety of laboratory services. All of these tests are done in our clinic. For some tests, results can be provided immediately; for others, samples must be sent away. Many of the simple in-office tests are performed as the patient is having his or her follow-up visit and reviewed at the time or on a subsequent office visit. For more information and the cost per test, please contact the clinic by phone at (613) 241-0005 or by fax at (613) 241-0800.

Zinc Sufficiency Test

Patient is given an oral sample of 0.2% Zinc Sulphate solution. If the patient experiences no taste, there is a zinc deficiency; zinc status is normal if there is a bitter taste. Results correlate well with Hair Analysis results. Many health conditions can be related to deficient zinc levels, such as low immunity, low libido and sperm count, low adrenal function, early tooth decay, poor development, and low thyroid activity.

Hair Analysis (Nutritional Minerals and Toxic Metals)

Environmental toxins interfere with metabolism, assimilation, and elimination. Potentially dangerous substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, and aluminium can interfere with metabolic processes, the nervous system, the reproductive system, and mental capacity. In heavy industrial or densely populated areas are where toxic elements are found in alarming frequency.

A small hair sample (approximately one gram) is taken from the patient. A 30 element panel is then assessed and documented by the chosen lab. Results are received within 2 weeks.

The naturopathic doctor then consults with the patient as to how to bring the elements back to within normal ranges.

All above information was derived in part from Professional Health Products- In Office Lab Tests Manual, with permission.
